Qatar Foundation (QF) is a non-profit organization that integrates centers and programs focused on education, research, innovation, and community development for the benefit of Qatar and the world.
Qatar Foundation (QF), semi-private, not-for-profit, chartered organization established in 1995 under the leadership of Her Highness Sheikha Mozah bint Nasser Al Missned. With “Unlocking the human potential” Qatar foundation aims to help the country reduce its dependence on its natural resources and become a knowledge-based economy. Qatar National Vision 2030 an important component in the vision of QF, which outlines the goals of a sustainable advanced society founded on the pillars of knowledge and innovation, but rooted in values and tradition. QF had been actively involved in the process of national skills capacity development of the State of Qatar, but the National Vision 2030 sparked a series of bold moves by QF to catapult itself on a global arena in promoting education, research, technology, innovation and skills building role.
A landmark deal marketing deal with the world-renowned football club FC Barcelona saw QF develop into a global brand, resulting in unprecedented exposure to the foundation as well as the country. Pursuit of excellence forms the core value in all QF activities and functions, and all aspects of QF operations seem to be mindful of that. Some prominent achievements of QF include:
• Qatar Science and Technology Park – a world-class facility designed to foster the culture of research and innovation within the country and region
• Sidra Medical Research Center – an ambition $7.9 billion project for the advancement of medical sciences
• Education City – a 12 square kilometer educational development comprising some of the top and most prestigious universities from different disciplines
• Qatar National Research Fund – to support international standard research projects according to the national research strategy
• Qatar Computing Research Institute – leading IT Research Centre of the region, inculcating the most advanced technological innovations in multidisciplinary applied computing
• Commercial joint ventures like Vodafone Qatar (2nd mobile operator in the country) and MEEZA (one of the largest cloud new IT companies in the region with global aspirations)
• Social welfare projects like Reach Out To Asia (ROTA) which responds to human crisis situations throughout Asia.
QF is on its way to becoming one of the global hubs of knowledge while continuing to redefine the human resource potential and development in the region.
